Faucet and Test Tokens
The faucet is a means of providing test tokens to users so that they
can run their smart contracts on the KEVM and IELE testnets.
By using the faucet, users can request test tokens that are
automatically supplied to them without needing assistance from
developers.
Disclaimer: Please do not try to use real cryptocurrency on the
testnets. You should take care to ensure that you only use test tokens
when running your smart contracts, and these are obtained through the
faucet. Instructions on how to receive test tokens are below.
HOW TO ACCESS THE TESTNET FAUCET
You access the testnet faucet using a URL. The address within the URL
is the address where you want to receive the funds. This is a simple
HTTP post endpoint.
To access the faucet, perform the following steps:
- Send a POST HTTP request to the faucet URL, for example: <span https://kevm-testnet.iohkdev.io:8099/faucet?address=0x00000000000000000000000000000000000001
The test tokens are automatically sent to the address specified within the URL string, for example: address=0x00000000000000000000000000000000000001 and will be ready to use for your smart contracts.
The following outcomes are possible:
- A success response is returned with the transaction ID and funds
are routed to the account. The status of the transaction can be
monitored using the blockchain explorer.
- An error message of type 429 is returned if you have exceeded the
amount of requests from a single IP address. You will have to wait for a
short interval before trying again.
- An error message of type 500 is returned if there is a problem with the faucet server.
